Singapore Base Oil News (October2023)

Singapore’s base oils exports stayed higher than usual for a second week amid a rebound in shipments to southeast Asia.

Total exports of more than 55,000t in the week to October 18 edged down from close to 61,000t the previous week, government data showed.

The volumes were up from typical levels of less than 40,000 t/week in the first nine months of the year.

The rise in shipments lifted total exports to more than 175,000t over the past four weeks.

The volume was the highest since the beginning of September amid a pick-up in flows to southeast Asia and especially to Indonesia.

Base oils exports to China held close to 30,000t over the last four weeks. Exports held close to that level since the beginning of June.

Four-week average exports to China averaged more than 44,000t in the first five months of the year.
